Students build for success

Thanet College hosted a heat of the National ‘Skilled Up’ competition which challenged students to show off their construction skills and find the best building talents in the county.
Chandlers Building Supplies supported the competition for the second year running, offering £100 worth of bricklaying tools as the first prize, £75 second place and £50 for third place to the winning students in the bricklaying contest.
Students had from 9am to 4pm to build a construction that challenged their accuracy, attention to detail and their time-keeping skills. Adam Rigden won the competition (pictured receiving his prize from John Galer and Debra Wilson from Thanet College), with Jack Allen in second and Jordan Evans in third.
John Galer, Branch Director of Chandlers in Thanet commented: “The ‘Skilled Up’ competition offers students a fantastic opportunity to show off their bricklaying skills and we are delighted to be able to support the event. We feel it is extremely important to acknowledge the skills of young people and this competition is the perfect way to recognise their talents.”
The three winners from Thanet College willnow go on to compete in the national final of the Skilled Up challenge.
