Chandlers helping Haiti

Three months on from the devastating earthquake which left over a million people homeless a box of aid sponsored by Chandlers Building Supplies is being used by a family in Haiti to rebuild their life.

The box has been sponsored through disaster relief charity ShelterBox, who specialise in providing aid following disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanoes and floods.

Chandlers heard about the charity through Clarkes Roofing employee Matthew Roberts who is a customer at the Ringmer branch.  Matthew is part of the ShelterBox Response Team meaning that at the drop of a hat he travels to disaster areas delivering boxes of aid to those in need.

Each box supplies an extended family of up to 10 people with a tent and lifesaving equipment whilst they are homeless and includes:

“Matthew has done some amazing work with ShelterBox and following his return from Sumatra, where he was helping after an earthquake, Chandlers wanted to do something for the charity.  Over 13,000 boxes of aid have been distributed throughout Haiti so far and we are delighted to have been able to sponsor a box to help one family rebuild their life.”
