Chandlers Community Spirit
Local builders merchants, Chandlers Building Supplies illustrated the true meaning of community spirit by donating 20 bags of sand to South Malling Pre-school following an attack by mindless vandals.
The sandpit, located in the garden of South Malling Pre-school, Lewes, was set upon by vandals who scattered its contents across the garden, leaving the remainder exposed to the elements, rendering it unusable. The toddlers, aged from two to five, were devastated by the attack, which also affected the schools playhouse and pirate ship.
The donation of sand made by Chandlers has contributed to the reconstruction of the damaged outdoor space enabling the garden to once again be enjoyed by the children.
Nigel Williams, Sales Office Manager of the Chandlers Ringmer branch, commented: “When such mindless acts of destruction take place it is essential that communities come together to overcome the negative effects. Here at Chandlers we always keen to help the local community in whatever way we can. We hope that the garden at South Malling Pre-school can be restored as soon as possible so the toddlers once again have an outdoor space they can enjoy”.
