1st St Lawrence Scouts and 6th Ramsgate Guides win £1,000 Prize Fund
The Scouts, Rainbows, Brownies and Guides are made up of over 250 local children between the ages of five and 18 and all share a joint Headquarters in Ramsgate. The HQ enables the groups to meet on a regular basis, allowing all the local members to learn a variety of essential skills that can be applied within every day life.
The group plan to use the £1,000 prize to fund urgent repairs to the HQ’s roof, to enable them to continue using the building to provide children in the local community with essential life skills and values.
Jacky Rampall, Group Leader, commented: “We are delighted to have won the £1,000 Chandlers Community Fund Prize and I would like to thank everyone who voted for us. This money will go towards the urgent roof repairs required at our HQ. We are incredibly grateful for this £1,000 as it means we can continue meeting and running activities from our much loved building.”
Since the start of Chandlers Community Fund in 2010,
From scouts to sea cadets and schools to support groups, the money has been used to improve and maintain essential causes and services used by the local community.
John Rose, Thanet Branch Manager commented: “On behalf of everyone at Chandlers, I would like to thank all those who showed their support for the Community Fund by voting for who they wanted to win the prize fund, each month.”
He continued: “The aim of the Community Fund was to provide support to groups in the local in community that needed some extra help as we understand the importance of the services provided by all the organisations.”
“I wish all of our winners the best of luck in the future, and I’m looking forward to catching up with them all in the New Year to hear about how the money has helped them and their plans for the future.”
